AppBriek

A new website for AppBriek, the app developer from Den Bosch: more playful, more colourful, and built to show what apps can do.

PROJECT

From old to new

AppBriek's old site ran on WordPress, with a dark header and stock illustrations. The new site is light and colourful, and shows what an app can do instead of describing it. The phone on the home page actually works: you can accept a Driv3 ride on it. You assemble your own app with a few toggles, filter the projects by category, hear the Driv3 notification sounds, and measure your reaction time with a mini version of the Vigilance Buddy test.

Built like byrt.nl

AppBriek is Byrt's sister company, so the site runs on the same stack as this one: Rust, Axum and Maud, with HTMX for page transitions and AlpineJS for the demos. The design has its own set of design tokens in Tailwind CSS. The old WordPress URLs still work, and pages that are gone redirect to their successor, so existing links and search results keep working.

Privacy without a cookie banner

Fonts and scripts are served from the site's own server, so a visit to appbriek.com makes no third-party requests. Visits are counted with cookieless Matomo, through a proxy on the site's own domain. Visitors who don't want to be counted can opt out on the privacy page; Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected too.

TECHNOLOGY

The website is built with the following technologies

Website

Rust with Axum and Maud: the HTML is checked at compile time and the server delivers fast, ready-made pages. HTMX makes page transitions smooth.

Design

A bespoke design with clouds, hard shadows and rounded sheets, captured as design tokens in Tailwind CSS 4.

Interaction

The demos are small AlpineJS components: the phone in the header, the app builder, the project filter, the notification sounds and the reaction-time test.
